Urban regeneration tactics
The Franscini Compartment project in Chiasso is part of a big redevelopment process of different areas in the city. It is particularly linked to a concept of pedestrianisation and speed reduction along road sections and interstitial zones: this leads to a different perception of road space, which can in turn be rethought to prioritise people and bicycles instead of cars. The entire intervention aims to create meeting places, extending pavements and waste areas, transforming them into real public spaces that can be enjoyed and enjoyed: the use of nature and appropriate furnishings are considered the true allies in the creation of spaces in which well-being and sociability become the cornerstones of a new way of perceiving urbanity. The project is developed with some interventions located in different points of the district, unified, however, by the same architectural and landscape language, as well as by the same desire to favour sustainable urban development.
