Competition - 1° prize

The jury has awarded first prize in the competition organised by the Fondazione Parco San Rocco for the development of the new intergenerational neighbourhood in Morbio Inferiore to our project, “House of Light”.

The project proposes an urban design strategy that reconnects the town centre with the surrounding landscape and creates an innovative facility capable of enhancing residents’ quality of life, improving staff efficiency and strengthening the relationship with the urban environment, while placing strong emphasis on intergenerational relations and the promotion of community life.

OLOS ATELIER’s landscape design is based on the concept of openness and connection, redefining the square as a defining space that links the retirement home, the town hall, the church and the park. Nature becomes a defining feature: trees, natural materials and rest areas come together to create a welcoming and social space. The park is organised into two complementary areas: an upper section — flat and more intimate — dedicated to contemplation and leisurely walks; and a lower section on the slope, which hosts vegetable gardens, orchards and rows of vines, evoking the traditional productive landscape and offering participatory experiences that support the well‑being of residents and the small internal supply chain.
