Landscape redevelopment project for a private garden in Courmayeur, Italy
The project concerns the landscaping of a private garden in an alpine setting, characterised by clump‑forming vegetation and a striking interplay between solid and open spaces The composition is structured around three layers of vegetation — trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants — arranged in compact or more open clusters, creating variations in density, transparency and visual depth
The network of paths, varying in scale and hierarchy, winds through the planted areas and shapes the visitor’s experience: a main path structures the space, while secondary paths allow for a more intimate exploration of the garden.
Plantings include both uniform masses and a wide range of compositions that vary in size, texture and colour. The open spaces are defined by different types of lawn — primarily green lawns and flowering meadows — which introduce seasonality and a sense of lightness.
The predominant materials — wood and stone — anchor the design in the Alpine landscape, ensuring material coherence and a natural dialogue with the vegetation and its surroundings.
