The project area stretches in a particularly interesting and valuable environmental context between Punta Ispra and Loverascio. The project route connects the area of the Ex Fornaci, historical evidence of the limestone quarrying tradition, with the Lavorascio special protection zone. The objective is to make accessible a portion of the Punta Ispra slope that is currently inaccessible, enhancing the territorial, landscape and architectural peculiarities that characterise it. This not only improves pedestrian and cycle mobility, but also enhances the surrounding natural landscape, offering an immersive and sustainable experience for visitors. The footbridge was designed to cantilever on rock detached from the rock face, in order to create a path that, freed from the irregularity of the rock face profile, could have a more harmonious planimetric course, with curvature radii suited to the needs of a footpath, respecting in some cases the existing shrubs that characterise the slope. Corten steel is to be used in order to minimise environmental impact, and in particular the paving is to be grated in order to ensure full visual contact with everything below the route, thus maintaining full visual contact with the surrounding environment, and promoting the lowest possible maintenance. Belvedere points will also be included along the route, allowing people to stop and enjoy the beauty of the Lake Maggiore setting.
